Moses, Jr. was the first in our Bowers line to be born in North America. He spent most of his life either on the original Bower Plantation or living nearby, as tax records for the latter quarter of the 18th century suggest. His first wife, Barbara Friederich, was mother to his first eight of ten children. Six months after her death in 1797, he married Barbara Kloss, with whom he had two more boys, the first of which, Johannes, or John, is our next grandfather down the line. Moses, Jr. is still listed as a resident of Amity in the 1800 US Census, but sometime in late-1800 or early-1801, the family moved to White Deer Township in Northumberland County. For reasons unknown, he dies there in 1801 at the age of about 46 years. Since he dies intestate, the absence of a will leads one to think his death was sudden and unexpected.
